Call for scores - Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra chamber concert in 2021
As we approach the close of 2020, we are happy to announce that MPO will be collaborating with MCC in their chamber concert series next year. The first concert is targetted for March 17th for a full Malaysian composers programme by MCC members. The instrumentation is for any mixed ensemble up to 10 players. Minimum is 2 players. Setting the bar for art song studies
This year sees the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (Aswara) setting the bar for Malaysians art song studies by commissioning and publishing a collection of new songs for the voice, based on texts by Malaysians writers. Sita's abduction re-imagined – a Singapore review
On 28 Feb 2020, Singapore music lovers were treated to a retelling of Adeline Wong’s 2007 piece ‘Empunya Yang beroleh Sita Dewi’ (He who possesses Sita Dewi). First commissioned by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra at the time for a half-hour performance by the full orchestra with wayang kulit, Empunya Yang beroleh Sita Dewi added yet another modern commentary into the classic Ramayana. New Zealand shifts ACL and ISCM festivals to 2022
UPDATED : The Composers Association of New Zealand (CANZ) hosts the next ACL festival in Christchurch. Originally scheduled in April 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the event to be moved to 2022. Originally, it was to run from Monday 27th April, till the evening of Saturday 2nd May. Many festival events will combine with the ISCM World New Music Days until 30th April, and the final two days will be ACL only.
