Lecture: Contemporary Composition Techniques and The Free Hand Anthology
2pm - 5pm, attendance by invitation.
INTEC, UiTM Shah Alam
4 Dec, 2019
Adeline Wong presents a lecture at UiTM Shah Alam
on modern piano techniques and will introduce pieces from its new
Free Hand Anthology I as part of the demonstrations.
The half day session touches on various approaches
in composition, from extended techniques and tone clusters, to aleatoric music, many of which can be seen in MCC's new publication of
piano works. Amnong them are Raja Alif's Dol Said, which has sections of improvisation on tone clusters.
Other composers discussed include American modernist Morton Feldman. Attendees will get hands on experience in playing some of the scores under Wong's guidance.
The lecture is part of Yayasan Sime Darby's sponsorship.
