Call for scores for Asean Youth Orchestra @ Seamex 2017, Kuala Lumpur


In conjunction with SEAMEX 2017 (Southeast Asia Music Education Exchange), Spectrum Culture Exchange is requesting new music scores from composers residing in the ASEAN region as part of ASEANYO’s debut in September 2017 (8 - 10 Septemer in KL), at SEAMEX2017**.

Each original work (score) in application must be a new or pre-existing work, no older than 5 years, and no longer than 10 minutes in duration. It must reflect the theme: ‘Architecture of Desire’ and that of the SEAMEX occasion; a sharing of cultures, skills and ideas.

The work must be that of the applicant.

Six works will be selected from the applications for presentation on the 10th September. The decision of the panel is final.

Total orchestration available: 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons, 2 French Horns, 2 Trumpets, Timpani (1 player) Percussion (1 player - request for instrument availability ) Harp & Strings: Vln 1 & 2 Viola, Cello & Bass (6.5.4.3.2)

Minimum number of players to be used 13; being one from each section.

Application is free. There is no prize money or awards being offered. No hire, rental or commission fees will be incurred or entertained. There are no age restrictions.

All scores in application are to be submitted in PDF format together with a cover letter (programme note) and full biography, together with the composer’s photo. Links to recordings of the work may also be included. No hard copies will be entertained or returned. Composers selected for performance will email PDF copy to SCE of the orchestral parts upon notification of selection.

SCE reserves the right to keep all scores and parts on file. Intellectual Property Rights of the composers are not affected. Composers will be notified of any repeat performances.
